I bought volume 6 at BOOK EXPRESS, so the tankobon came with a message paper apparently drawn just for that book chain.

Thermae Romae Amazon Limited Edition

The regular limited edition comes with that penis charm, and at amazon I got a plastic book titled “Furomae Romae” together with volume 4:

The book contains three stories and essays from Vols 1 and 2, plus three extra commentary essays, and looong talk between Yamazaki-sensei and the editor-in-chief.

Last month’s Nikkei Entertainment magazine had a listing of top 50 best-selling mangaka. FYI, I list the top 10 here, together with the number of their books sold since Jan 2010:

Male Maid Cafe Cookies

Last Sunday I went to Tokyo Big Sight for comitia, and found this omiyage in the souvenir shop:

They’re maids, but they’re all guys. Inside the box was a trading card:

Yokohama Kitkat

I went to the Yokohama Chinatown the other day, and got this:

It’s a Yokohama-only KitKat that’s almond-jelly-flavored. Yum!

The Legend of Koizumi 6

Vol. 6 came out on Saturday. This is the last volume, and wraps up the “battle the Nazis” arc, with Koizumi and the Asimo robot going against Hitler. The ad at the back does mention a sequel coming.

The book gave me a much needed chance to read something silly and laugh. I was in front of my PC when the quake hit, but I was extremely fortunate in that my bookshelves and other furniture did not come crashing down (the books only got tilted slightly).

Publication dates of some magazines and books are being pushed back, and there’s news of shortages of both printing paper and ink. I’m hoping the series I translate don’t get delayed too much, if any, but we shall see.

Rolling Blackout

I saw the first version of this on ex-GAINAX Higuchi-san’s twitter. He mentioned he did have the people who created the original version correct it.

Rakuen Fair

A number of bookstores are participating in Hakusensha’s Rakuen anthology fair. I bought the latest tankobon by Nakamura Asumiko (Tetsudo Shojo Manga), and it came with a one-page manga extra drawn by her, and a bookmark.

Here’s a closeup of the bookmark. The Rakuen-kun character is by Nakamura-sensei, and the Rakuen-chan character is by Kurosaki Rendou.
