Part Two of the Marui one – Black Butler collab is the anime-related exhibit. DVDs and other goods were on sale, and you could watch previews of the second season. What looked like reproduction manuscripts of both the manga and anime were on display as well. You could take pictures of the musical costumes, so here’s what they look like:

Black Butler Collab Items

Marui one in Shinjuku has started displaying their Black Butler collaboration items starting yesterday, so I went to take a look.

ALICE & the PIRATES has a Ciel set while Black Peace Now has a Ciel set, a Mey-Rin set, and an Elizabeth set. (Elizabeth’s dress is dark red. Maybe she wore it in the anime?).

Atelier Boz has a Ciel set and a Sebastian set, both in women’s and men’s sizes:

Artherapie has a number of bags with the Phantomhive coat of arms and the mark of the covenant on them.

Black Butler 8

Came out last Friday. This time I got my copy at Animate, so it came with an Animate-only illustration sheet:

The text says “Thank you for buying Vol. 8! This is the end of the Circus arc. And the two who didn’t appear in the arc is working part-time at Animate.”

The obi says the second season of the anime will have anime-only character(s?) designed by Toboso-sensei. It also says, “And NEW CAST”.

Omake Cover Manga

Black Butler

Now that the official announcement has been made, I can write that I’m translating/adapting Toboso Yana’s Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji).

I first encountered this series when I saw the pile of Vol. 1 at a neighborhood bookstore. I liked the cover design and the illustration, so I decided to pick it up. After reading Vol. 2, I was hooked and started buying GFantasy magazine, because I was dying to know how the story was developing. (And I was able to encounter Pandora Hearts because I started buying the magazine.)

So the only two shonen manga I read now have both been offered to me to translate…kinda strange, ne?

Kuroshitsuji Trading Figures

I found them at Animate when I went to buy comic book covers. (I put covers on the all the tankobons I translate, so the dust cover stays in place while the book is tucked on my bookrest.)

A box cost almost 900 yen(!), so I just got three. I hit the jackpot with the first box: the secret version, Ciel dressed up as a young lady for a ball. (He’s even wearing drawers underneath his dress.)

I then got the devil and the shinigami butler pair.

The figures are very very detailed, compared to your average gashapon figures.
