This is the last volume that was published before Yazawa-sensei fell ill.

Talking of ill mangakas, Nakamura Asumiko has announced on her website that she’s suspending all creative activities because of health problems (she’s even shutting down her site this month.). I’ll be missing her “Nokemono to Hanayome” manga that runs in KERA.

A woman’s entertainment weekly here has a short article on Yazawa-sensei. The article starts out by catching her in front of a Tokyo hospital, looking visibly unwell, barely able to walk as she gets off a cab.

They then catch her in front of her house, and quotes her as saying that “she has no idea yet when she’ll be able to resume NANA”, that “she’s concentrating 100% on getting better, and that she hasn’t held a pen since she’s last collapsed”, that “people seem to be worried because she hasn’t disclosed what illness she’s suffering from, but it’s something that can be cured, and the doctors have said that she will get better as long as she spends time on treatment and recuperation, so will fans please trust Ai Yazawa and wait”.

In the latest issue of Cookie which came out today, there’s an announcement that Yazawa-sensei has fallen ill, thus the chapter that was supposed to be published in this issue has been postponed.

The announcement also says that several months will be necessary for Yazawa-sensei’s treatment and recuperation. An announcement will be made later about when the series will resume.

This month’s mobile site column has Yazawa-sensei asking readers to be very very patient regarding Part 2 of the NANA anime. She mentions that both the anime staff and herself are trying very hard, and she’s sorry about making everybody wait for so long.
