(Ms.) Tomo Kimura’s Translation/Tokyo Notes

The final chapter in the series, 魂の腫瘍 (Tamashii no Shuyou - on the cover it says “Cancer of Beings”) has started with the December issue of Wings magazine.

Vol. 14 will be out sometime the end of next month. It’s been a long wait, since Vol. 13 came out about two years ago.

The December issue of Cookie came out yesterday. NANA will finally be resuming from next month’s issue, continuing from where Vol. 18 ended!

The January issue will come with a NANA Christmas postcard.

I hope people found the yakuza article informative.

I find it amusing that the tabloids always seem to have the latest information on what’s going on with the major yakuza organizations. They’ve got reports on changes in “upper management” and the ceremonies that were held, which gangs are fighting each other and why, and such.

When I was watching some late-night TV, I happened to catch an interview of an ex-wife of a yakuza oyabun. For various reasons, she’d ended up cutting off three fingers of her left hand (@_@) then ran away from the kumi.

2-hour dramas

Popular dramas become a series of sorts, with several episodes being made every year. Thus I’ve seen actresses who appear in enough of these series being called the “Queen of 2-hour dramas”.

The extra short manga features Aido.

There’s only sidebar filled in this volume. Hino-sensei writes she’s run out of things to write about, and her head is full with thinking about the manga.

The ad at the back of the tankobon says Vol. 7 will be out next spring.

This seems to be out already as well.

After translating enough extra pages that mention the site, I decided to sign up back in May. With the basic service, you get to download stuff like standby displays (Flash and non-Flash, monthly calendars), ring tunes from the movies/anime, play games, and much much more. And they keep adding stuff every week.

There’s a separate pay-per-item site as well. I got a Hachi “dress-up your keitai” item which is a set of Flash standby/call receive/email send & receive/alarm screens, as well as customized menus to access your phone functions. The battery meter is a strawberry (of course!), and a Hachi dog sits by your antenna reception meter. Kawaii yo!
