The author’s note does say that “problems” were found during the physical checkup, that Yazawa-sensei underwent operation and is “finally getting better”.

A friend works at the Sapporo branch of a nationwide bookstore chain, and their initial order for Vol. 18 is something like 900 copies. That made me wonder what the numbers are like for someplace like the Shinjuku Kinokuniya (huge manga section, plus all the commuters passing through the area).

The November issue of Cookie is out. NANA was tentatively scheduled to resume from the December issue (on sale October), but it’s been postponed to the January issue due to Yazawa-sensei’s ongoing treatment and recuperation.

The author’s note in Vol. 17 did mention her getting her first thorough physical exam, and she was asking her fans to pray that she won’t be thrown into the hospital (for the sake of the characters, not for herself). Maybe they found something during the checkup?

I was pleasantly surprised that Kyoko got her second chance at revenge so soon, especially considering how miserably she failed the first time. Her monologue at the end of Act 43 always makes me cry (T_T)
