Sukimasuki

A one-volume story by Unita Yumi. A boy who works during the day and attends college at night, is peeking daily into the room of a girl living across from his house. What he doesn’t know is that she’s been peeking into his room too, snapping away photos. One day when he’s eating in the college cafeteria, she comes and sets her tray opposite of him, and things start moving…

The premise is creepy, but the story is actually a peppy love story.

“Manimani” by the same mangaka is another of my favorites. It’s a collection of short stories featuring girls and women - a high school girl who stops going to school, her mother who’s a working single mom, a woman who quit work and went back home after breaking up with her boyfriend, the girl’s teacher who’s having problems at work and with her private life…they’re all struggling to live, and although you don’t get everything-turns-right endings, I ended up with the feeling that by continuing to live each day steady and slow, things will somehow be okay with them.
