(Ms.) Tomo Kimura’s Translation/Tokyo Notes

Finally received my copy in the mail today.

Writing up the notes may take some time, since I’m in the middle of busy crunch weeks.

I saw the movie last month, but had completely forgotten to write about it. It basically covers the contents of Vol. 2 through half of Vol. 5, with the Nana Osaki story in Vol. 1 explained in flashbacks.

I enjoyed watching it. They had the actors/actresses really try to look like they do in the manga (although Shin-chan kinda looked too old to be 15), and they do play their own instruments in the concert scenes. I wished the concert scenes were a bit longer though. (I wanted to hear more of the rock tune Trapnest initially performs!)

And since the movie is doing so well, a sequel will be made.

This issue contains the first chapter of “Beauty is the Beast.” This manga is very different from Full Moon (It is a comedy based on senior high dorm life), but I’m having great fun working on it. I hope people who read it enjoy it as well!

And the next issue will have a preview of the manga version of “KAMIKAZE GIRLS.”

The Sapporo City Subway will have Darth Vader as a one-day-Stationmaster this Saturday, to promote good subway-riding manners and the use of subways.

Make me wonder what sort of “performance” he’s going to give to promote good manners - using the dark powers of the force? threatening with his light saber?
