Ginza Hyakuten

This is a small monthly cultural magazine that is available free at selected stores in Ginza. The September issue has an essay by the mangaka Hagio Moto. She writes about her love for dolls, and how she keeps buying new dolls, both when she travels in Japan and when she goes abroad. She has so many dolls now that she’s run out of space to display them all, that there are three boxes full of dolls she can’t display.

The Place Ms. Oshige is all Drunk

The sign says “Izakaya Gudenguden.” An izakaya is a casual drinking and eating place. Gudenguden describes a person who’s really drunk, so the name of the place suits Ms. Oshige well.

The banner probably says Monja. Monja is a Kanto-local food that is cooked on an iron plate at your table (Ms. Oshige is sleeping on such a table, most of the table is the iron plate, except for the edges.)
